The Alien State

Oh Utah. You are so weird. And beautiful. As my Dad and I traveled through Western Colorado and finally hit the border of Utah things started to get interesting. These great big rock towers started appearing in the distance. I love Utah. It is such a unique place and although I was only there for a few days, I know that there is so much more to explore. I look forward to going back again very soon.

Sometimes I believe that photos have to have meaning. But sometimes a photo is just a reminder of an event that happened. Photography can track the light of a place and the feeling of a place. I felt a sense of awe as we crossed into Utah. I was taken back by the sheer size of everything. Living in Maryland, we don't really have mountains this tall, especially not by the city I live in. So to be confronted by something so big was powerful. To think that these towers were once connected and that the land was taller is magical to think about. That's just the beauty of exploring. You learn so much about the world around you and in turn about yourself.
